I finally started paying myself first, and my buddy's $50 rule was dead on
My friend Dave kept bugging me to move $50 to savings the second my paycheck hits, before I pay anything else. I did it for 4 months and somehow saved $800 without feeling it, mostly because I stopped seeing the money in my checking account at all. Anyone else have a set amount that just works better than trying to save whatever is left over?
