Hit my first $5k emergency fund and it felt weirdly anticlimactic

I've been budgeting for about 9 months now, trying to get my act together after a car repair wiped me out last spring. My goal was to save $5,000 for emergencies, and I finally hit that number three weeks ago. Honestly, I thought I'd feel this huge sense of relief or accomplishment, but instead I just sat there staring at my spreadsheet. It was more like "okay, now what?" than a victory dance. What really hit me was knowing that if my water heater blows or I dent my bumper, I can actually handle it without panic. That peace of mind turned out to matter way more than the number itself. Has anyone else hit a savings milestone and felt kind of meh about it at first?

Isn't it funny how the relief sneaks up on you way after the fact? Seriously though, good for you for sticking with it.

Yeah, that relief hits you when you least expect it.
