Unpopular opinion: cheap hostels beat Airbnbs for solo trips
I used to pay $60 a night for a private Airbnb room in Lisbon last spring, then tried a $12 hostel bunk in the same city this fall, and the difference was night and day. The hostel had free walking tours, shared dinner nights, and a locker that actually locked, while the Airbnb felt like a lonely apartment with a broken heater. Anyone else find that hostels give you more bang for your buck once you factor in the free stuff and people to hang with?
