TIL in Prague hostels cost the same as Airbnbs now

I stayed in Prague last September and noticed hostels were charging 35 euros a night while Airbnbs in the same area were 40. So you're basically saving nothing for sharing a room with strangers. I'm debating if the social scene at hostels is worth the lack of privacy for a tiny price difference. What's your take - do you still go for hostels or just pay a bit more for your own space?

35 euros for a hostel feels like everything's just getting a little more expensive these days.

Honestly I feel like people act like this is a crisis but it's really not that deep. You're talking about 5 bucks difference just get the Airbnb and have your own bathroom. The whole hostel social scene thing is overrated anyway right?
