The Before and After of My Backpack Weight After One Airport Run

I used to pack EVERYTHING for trips until I flew out of Chicago O'Hare last spring. Pre-weigh at home said 28 pounds but the kiosk showed 35 after I added my water bottle and jacket. I dumped 7 pounds of stuff into a locker for $8 and my shoulders felt like a new person the whole weekend. Anyone else realize they pack way too much when you actually hit the scale at the gate?
