That time a hostel in Barcelona saved me 60 euros on laundry

I was three days into a two week trip through Spain and my clothes were starting to smell. The hostel wanted 8 euros just to wash and dry one small load. So I asked a local at the front desk where she gets her laundry done and she pointed me to a lavanderia self-service three blocks away. Cost me 3.50 total and I even used the hostel's free detergent from the shared kitchen. Has anyone else found a hidden cheap laundry spot abroad?

Just pay the 8 euros and stop bugging the locals.

Yeah, the 8 euros thing gets thrown around a lot, @craig.avery, but I've been to that market three times now and it's not always that simple. Last Tuesday I watched a guy try to hand over a 20 euro bill and the vendor just waved him off because he didn't have change, then started yelling at the tourist in front of everyone. It's easy to say just pay up when you're not the one standing there with the wrong cash or a card that only works at certain stalls. I get that locals are tired of people haggling over pocket change, but some of these vendors are just as pushy and rude right off the bat.
