Shoutout to the guy who told me about cooking hostel breakfasts for dinner

I was in Barcelona last year and ran out of cash by day 3. A guy from Quebec in my bunk said just hit up the hostel kitchen after 8pm and eat whatever people left behind from the free breakfast. I grabbed half a baguette, some jam packets, and a banana that was still good. Saved me about 12 euros that night and started a habit I still use on trips. Anyone else ever scrounge hostel leftovers for a meal?

Nah, that's lazy and kinda gross. Eating leftover bread and jam isn't resourceful, it's just being a freeloader.

You know, "lazy and kinda gross" actually made me rethink things, @harris.vera. I used to see it as being smart with what you have, but your point about freeloading hits different now that I think about it.
