Picked a hostel kitchen over street food in Bangkok

Saved $12 a day cooking my own noodles and stir fry at Lub d Hostel. Ran into a German guy who showed me how to make pad see ew with a wok they had. Anyone else find hostel kitchens worth the hassle?

That German guy sounds like a solid travel buddy to run into. I totally get what you mean about the accidental good memories beating the planned ones.

Dude that's awesome! It's funny how saving a few bucks on food can accidentally lead to meeting someone cool and learning a new skill. I've noticed that pattern in my own life too, like when I took a detour to avoid traffic and found this killer little park I never knew existed. People always talk about the big planned stuff, but half the time the best memories come from just messing around and being open to random stuff. Hostel kitchens are totally worth it for that reason alone, even if the noodles aren't gourmet.
