My backpack zipper blew out in the middle of the Athens metro... and a $2 sewing kit saved the whole trip

Isn't it crazy how the smallest things can save a trip? I once fixed a busted sandal strap with a paperclip from a hotel notepad (total lifesaver). Those little kits are worth their weight in gold.

Yeah a safety pin from a lost and found box got my jeans button back on once. I mean it was janky but it held for like three days.

right there with you. i did something similar last summer on a camping trip, my backpack zipper totally blew out and i used a random key ring i found on the ground to hold it shut. it was super ghetto but it got me through the whole weekend without losing anything. those little fixes feel like winning the lottery when they work even for a day. honestly half the time the diy stuff holds better than the actual repair sometimes. nice to know im not the only one who keeps random junk in pockets just in case.
