Hostels vs hostels: the dorm size shocked me
I stayed in a 16-bed dorm in Barcelona for $22 a night and got zero sleep (people coming in at 3am). Switched to a 6-bed dorm in Madrid for $28 and actually rested. Has anyone else noticed a huge difference based on room capacity?

Totally feel your pain on this one. I had the exact same experience in Rome a few years back - booked a 14-bed dorm to save money and ended up lying there all night listening to someone snore like a lawnmower. The smaller rooms are absolutely worth the extra few bucks, even if it stings the wallet a bit. You just can't put a price on actually getting some rest while traveling, especially when you're trying to see a city all day. I've made it a rule now to never go above 6 beds unless I'm desperate, and even then I think twice.
