Hostel in Mexico City tipped me off that I'd been packing my bag wrong for 12 years

I had all my heavy stuff at the top and this guy named Diego showed me the trick about keeping the dense gear low and centered, has anyone else ever had their whole carry system just click after someone pointed out one simple thing?

Put all your weight down low and you lose the natural pendulum swing that actually helps with longer walks. @shah.shane I know Diego meant well but that trick made my hips ache worse after a few miles on uneven terrain. I have just accepted that my bag will be a little unstable and I move faster without fighting it.
