Had a chat with a hostel owner in Lisbon who changed how I pack

He told me most travelers bring way too much stuff and end up ditching clothes just to fit souvenirs, so now I only pack a 30L backpack for a week trip. Has anyone else downsized their luggage and actually saved on baggage fees?

Stick to just a 30L bag for a week, how do you handle dirty laundry or buying things you actually need on the road? I tried downsizing to a 40L pack but ended up wearing the same two t-shirts for days because I couldn't fit any backup options. Do you just do sink laundry every other night, or are you fine with repeating outfits the whole trip?
