DIY hostel breakfast kit saved me $12 a day in Dublin

I was sure packing instant oatmeal and a reusable cup was overkill but after 3 mornings of paying 8 euros for toast and jam I caved. Has anyone else found a hostel breakfast hack that actually works long term?

Instant coffee packets have saved my ass in Norway too.

Man that's rough but also kinda funny in a sad way. The coffee in Norway is actually pretty good most places but when you're in the middle of nowhere those instant packets are a lifesaver. I once forgot my travel mug at a cabin up by Tromsø and had to drink instant coffee mixed with lukewarm water from a thermos. Tasted like burnt mud but hey it kept me awake for the drive back. At least we weren't stuck with nothing like some of those poor souls in the mountains without any caffeine.
