Why my friends mock my 'gourmet' ramen hack (but it saves me cash)
I have this opinion that most people would disagree with: instant ramen is a blank canvas for gourmet food on a budget. Once, I made a 'fancy' ramen bowl with an egg, some green onions, and a dash of soy sauce, and served it to my book club. They raved about it until I told them it was just dressed-up instant noodles (you should have seen their faces!). For example, adding a spoonful of peanut butter and sriracha makes a creamy, spicy sauce that costs pennies. People think it's weird to mix peanut butter with savory stuff, but it works! It saves so much money because you start with a base that's super cheap and build from there. So, next time you're pinching pennies, don't be afraid to get creative with your noodles.

My friend got me hooked on adding a scoop of kimchi to the peanut butter mix. It sounds insane, but the sour crunch cuts through the creaminess and makes it taste like a real meal. I probably eat that twice a week now.
