Why does nobody talk about meal prep failing when your fridge dies
Tbh, my fridge broke down last Tuesday and I lost a whole week of prepped meals. I had $40 worth of chicken, veggies, and rice portions ready for my delivery shifts. Some folks say you should just cook fresh every day to avoid this risk, but others swear bulk prepping saves time and money. I ended up eating fast food for three days straight and blew my budget. Which side do you lean on: batch cooking or cooking daily?

Do you think having a backup plan like a cheap cooler and ice packs would have saved most of your food, or is that just delaying the inevitable with a dead fridge? I usually batch cook for 4 days max instead of a full week cause I've had too many close calls with power flickers in my building. Seems like the real problem isn't batch vs daily but trusting appliances not to die on us.

@anthonykim, did you ever try lining the cooler with frozen water bottles instead of ice packs? I did that once when our fridge died and the food stayed cold for almost two full days while we waited for a repair guy. The bottles melted slowly and gave us drinking water after, so nothing went to waste.
