Why does nobody talk about buying day-old bread for meals?
I grabbed a loaf of sourdough marked down to $1.50 at the bakery counter in Kroger last night, and it was perfectly fine for making grilled cheese all week. My neighbor saw me and said she throws out bread that's a day old, which blew my mind since you can toast it or use it for croutons. How many of you are actually using day-old stuff instead of tossing it?

My friend Sarah told me she used to toss day-old bread every single morning before work. Then one time she was broke between paychecks and decided to grab the marked down baguettes at Publix for $0.99. She made panzanella salad that night, croutons the next day, and bread pudding on the weekend. Now she actually looks for the day-old rack first and gets mad if they're sold out. She still talks about that bread pudding like it changed her life.

Read somewhere that stale bread actually has more resistant starch which is supposed to be better for you.
