Wasted $40 on fancy rice for months, then tried the 99 cent bag

I used to buy those expensive organic rice bags from the health food store. Last month I ran out and grabbed a $0.99 bag of store brand white rice at the grocery store in Detroit. Cooked it up the same way and honestly could not tell the difference. My wife even said the cheap rice came out fluffier. Now I'm rethinking all the other brand name stuff I buy for meals. Has anyone else switched to generic pantry staples and actually liked them better?
