Used to spend $12 on fancy pasta sauce, now I make my own for $3
I was the guy buying those $8 jars of Rao's for Sunday spaghetti, felt fancy. Then I tried simmering a $1 can of San Marzano tomatoes with garlic and basil for 20 minutes last month, tastes way better. Anyone else discover a simple swap that saved them serious cash without losing flavor?

My 3 ingredient sauce turned out so good I accidentally ate all of it straight out of the pan with a spoon.

Ha, I've been there. Now I keep a jar of tomato paste in the fridge and some dried oregano, that's my shortcut. A little anchovy paste if I'm feeling fancy. Also, get a cheap garlic press, it changed my life. You end up using more garlic for pennies instead of paying for pre-minced stuff that tastes like nothing.
