The before and after on using broth instead of water for rice surprised me over 3 months
I started doing this back in March after reading some post on here. I always thought it was a waste, like why spend extra money on broth when water works fine? But I had a box of chicken broth that was about to expire so I figured why not. First time I used it with some cheap jasmine rice and honestly my kids ate almost twice as much. I kept doing it, trying different broths like vegetable or beef when they were on sale. Over those 3 months I noticed we were throwing away way less leftover rice because it actually had flavor so people wanted to eat it the next day too. Has anyone else found a cheap broth brand that works well without breaking the bank?

Not gonna lie, the store brand tip is solid but I wanna toss out something else nobody's really mentioned - the sodium thing. I switched to using broth and realized my rice was suddenly way saltier than before, especially with those cheap boxes. I actually started watering down the broth like 50/50 with water and it still tastes way better than plain water rice, plus you save money making it last twice as long. Your kids probably ate more because that extra salt makes things taste good, so just keep an eye on how much you're actually using. I do half broth half water with a little butter and its perfect, never going back to just water.
