That $12 bag of dried beans turned into 8 meals and I'm still mad I didn't do it sooner
Honestly spent like $12 on a 5 pound bag of pinto beans at the Mexican market on Division and it stretched across a week of lunches plus some I froze. Has anyone else found a random bulk item that just completely wrecked their grocery budget expectations?

@rowan_hunt8 I get the appeal but honestly I think the time and cleanup offsets some of that savings for me. I'd rather pay a little more for canned beans and not have to soak or scrub a pot for 20 minutes, you know?

8 meals and I'm still mad I didn't do it sooner" - yeah that's basically my whole relationship with bulk beans right now. I did the SAME thing with black beans from a random bodega near my apartment and I'm honestly embarrassed at how long I've been throwing money away on canned ones. Like I literally could have saved enough for a cheap vacation if I'd figured this out two years ago instead of last month. My girlfriend keeps finding frozen bean containers in the back of the fridge and giving me THAT look. But hey at least my grocery bill went from embarrassing to just slightly depressing.
