Stopped buying pre-chopped garlic after I did the math on a Tuesday

I used to grab those little jars of minced garlic every week because I thought it saved time and wasn't that much more. Last month I noticed a 6 ounce jar was $3.50 at my local Kroger while a whole head of garlic costs like 50 cents. I sat down and figured out that jar had maybe 8 or 9 heads worth of garlic in it, so I was paying almost 7 times as much. Now I just chop a few heads on Sunday and keep them in a little bowl in the fridge, lasts all week and tastes way better. Anyone else notice how fast those little extras add up on a grocery bill?

Man that jarred garlic markup is insane once you actually look at it. I started buying whole garlic last year and now I just crush a few cloves with the flat of my knife and chop them in about 30 seconds. It's one of those little swaps that saves me like 20 bucks a month without thinking twice.

@grant_ross27 exactly, it's wild how these little convenience fees sneak into everything from garlic to bottled water.
