Serious question, has anyone else noticed how chuck roast went from cheap to almost luxury pricing over the last 4 years?
I used to buy it for like $4 a pound for pot roast dinners back in 2020 and now I'm seeing $8-9 a pound at my local Kroger, so I've switched to cooking with pork shoulder instead and honestly it's just as good for shredding, anyone else finding old budget cuts pricing them out?

You mentioned pork shoulder working just as well for shredding, and I've been doing the same thing lately. I actually prefer the taste of pork shoulder for tacos and barbecue style dishes, and it's held steady around $2-3 a pound here. I've also started experimenting with chuck eye rolls when I can find them on sale, which gives a similar texture to chuck roast but at a lower price point.

Adding chuck eye rolls to the rotation is smart, @colemiller, I'll have to try that.

Isn't it wild how we've all basically been forced to become pork shoulder converts just to keep grocery bills reasonable?
