Remember when everyone swapped soup recipes in the fall?

I miss the days when folks on my street would trade jars of homemade vegetable soup. Now, it's all quick apps and delivery, but those shared meals saved so much cash. We learned to stretch a pot of beans for days from an old neighbor. It felt like a community pantry without the hassle, just good food and nice chats.

Soup swaps seemed odd, but @umac88's pumpkin bread story changed my mind.

My street used to do a pumpkin bread swap every October (it was the best way to try new spices). That kind of sharing really did make groceries easier.

Actually you swap the breads, not the spices.
