My sister told me my lentil soup tasted like hospital food...

She said it was just brown mush with no flavor. So I started frying the spices in oil for a minute before adding the broth, and it's a total game changer. Anyone have other cheap tricks for making beans and lentils taste amazing?

Tbh hospital food is a pretty low bar to clear, but frying spices is a solid move. Ngl a lot of bean recipes just need more salt and fat than people are willing to add. A squeeze of lemon or a splash of vinegar at the end can fix a lot of blandness too. It's not rocket science, just taste as you go.
