My roommate called my 'soup' a crime against food until I added a $1.50 jar of Better Than Bouillon.

I was just boiling cheap veggies and pasta in water for a week, and it tasted like nothing. That paste made it taste like actual chicken noodle soup. Anyone else have a cheap ingredient that saves a bland meal?

Oh man, I feel that! Been there with a pot of sad, watery veggies. That bouillon paste is a total game changer. It's crazy how one cheap jar can turn "hot water with stuff in it" into a real meal. Your roommate wasn't wrong about the before picture, but they gotta respect the comeback!

Calling it a crime against food seems a bit much. It was just bland, not dangerous. That bouillon paste is a good trick, but it's basically just concentrated salt and flavor. A lot of cheap meals are saved by a dash of soy sauce or a spoonful of tomato paste. The real crime is how much they charge for pre-made soup in a can.

Gotta admit, I used to roll my eyes at people who said stuff like that too. But then I actually tried that bouillon paste trick on a batch of soup that was basically flavored water and it totally turned it around. Now I get it, it's not some gourmet secret, it's just salt and msg basically, but man does it do the job on cheap ingredients. The price of canned soup is ridiculous these days, it's almost cheaper to just make a big pot of this stuff and freeze it.
