My first time making black bean soup went sideways when I forgot to soak the beans overnight in Phoenix.

Had to drive 20 minutes to the corner store for canned beans at 7pm, tossed in some cumin and a lime I had sitting around, and honestly it turned out better than the recipe I was following, anyone else had a last minute substitution save dinner?

Phoenix got me too once, I just threw everything in a pressure cooker and pretended dry beans were fine.

Pulled them out after an hour and they were still crunchy, so I just called it al dente and moved on.
