I tracked my grocery spending for 8 weeks and the number for eating out was $310
So I started writing down every food dollar back in January because my budget felt out of control and I could not tell where it was all going. After 8 weeks the total was $487 on groceries and $310 on takeout, which honestly shocked me because I thought I was barely eating out. The thing is most of that $310 was not big dinners, it was like $9 here and $12 there when I was too tired to cook after work. Once I saw the number I started doing a big pot of beans and rice on Sunday, and that one change cut the takeout down to about $40 the next month. It is weird how a number on paper hits different than just feeling like you spend too much. Has anyone else tracked theirs and been surprised by which pile was actually the problem?
