Found out yesterday that canned chickpeas are cheaper than dried ones at my local store

I was at the WinCo in Boise doing my usual weekly run and I decided to actually compare the price per pound on chickpeas. The dried bag was like $1.50 for a pound but the canned were on sale for $0.88 each and I figured out that after you cook the dried ones you get about the same amount as two cans. Plus the dried ones take forever to soak and boil and I always forget to plan ahead. So for me the canned are actually the budget move because I'm not wasting gas or time. I also read on a food blog that canned chickpeas have the same nutrition just more sodium so I just rinse them. Has anyone else done the math on this and found canned cheaper in your area?

Oh man, that's a solid point about the gas and time factor, I never thought of it like that. Glad you did the math for us!

Glad you did the math for us" - yeah, I've been on that side of the equation too many times. It's always the hidden costs that eat into road trips. Gas alone can double your budget if you're driving something older or a truck. Plus the time adds up quick if you hit traffic or need detours. Sometimes flying makes more sense even if the ticket looks more expensive upfront.
