Found a 50 cent rice trick that cut my grocery bill by $20 a week
I started buying the big 20 pound bags of jasmine rice from the Asian market instead of the small boxes at the regular grocery store. After about a month of cooking it as a base for stir fries and burrito bowls, I noticed I was spending way less on filler carbs like pasta and bread. Has anyone else tried switching to bulk rice or found a similar cheap staple that made a big difference?

Actually @sarahh81 I gotta push back on this one. Sure the cost per serving looks good on paper but nobody talks about the time sink. I tried bulk rice and beans and ended up spending half my Sunday soaking and cooking and still ended up with mushy rice or crunchy beans way too often. Plus if you mess up a batch you're out 5 bucks worth of dried beans instead of 50 cents for a can. Not to mention the storage space for 20 pounds of rice in a tiny apartment kitchen, that bag sat on my floor for months collecting dust and who knows what else. Sometimes convenience is worth the extra dollar.

I saw a video a while back where someone broke down the cost per serving of rice versus pasta and it was like night and day. Bulk rice is just so much cheaper, especially if you hit up an Asian market. I've noticed that with beans too, buying them dry in bulk instead of canned really adds up over time. It's wild how those little switches can make your grocery bill look completely different, isn't it?
