Finally got dried beans to cook fast without soaking overnight

I always avoided dried beans because who has 8 hours to soak? But a bag of pintos is like $1.50 vs $2.50 for canned, so I wanted it to work. Tried the quick soak method last week from a budget blog - boil them for 2 minutes, then let sit covered for 1 hour. Drained, added fresh water, and they were fully tender in 45 more minutes. Saved me $3 on just 2 meals worth of beans. Has anyone else had luck skipping the overnight soak with other bean types like black or kidney?

The quick soak method is a game changer, I do it with black beans all the time now lol.

Right? The quick soak is so easy I barely even plan ahead anymore, just throw them in and boom dinner's sorted in no time.

Honestly the quick soak thing blows my mind every time. Wait so you're telling me you can just throw beans in hot water for an hour and they're good to go? Ngl I've been doing the overnight soak for years like some kind of caveman just because that's what my grandma did lol. Tbh I tried the quick soak once with chickpeas and they turned out kinda mushy, but maybe I just messed up the timing or something. Might have to give it another shot with black beans since cora_martinez seems to have nailed it.
