Can we talk about buying bulk rice vs small bags?

I read a blog post saying bulk rice saves 40% but then it got bugs after 3 months, so is the savings worth the risk or should I stick to 5 pound bags?

Chillin in there, totally unbothered" - that's exactly what happened with my 25 pound bag of basmati. I thought I was being smart buying the big one from the Indian grocery store. Three months later I opened it and there were these little weevils having a whole party. They brought friends. I tried to pick them out but after the fifth one I just threw the whole bag in the trash. Now I buy the 5 pound bags at the regular store even though it costs more. At least I know my rice isnt hosting a bug convention.

Oh man, I feel this in my soul. I bought a giant 20 pound bag of jasmine rice once and felt like a genius for like a month. Then I opened it one day and there were these tiny little beetles just chillin in there, totally unbothered. I mean, I guess they were getting a good deal on rent. My dumb self didn't transfer it to an airtight container right away, so that was on me. Now I just buy the 5 pound bags because my track record with bulk anything is basically me trying to save money and ending up with a science project instead. Maybe it's just me but if you're better at sealing things up tight, the savings might be worth it.
