Youtube guru said hot glue would bend like fabric, 30 minutes later I have a mess

This cosplay chick with 200k subs claimed hot glue on a curved pauldron would flex naturally after cooling, but mine cracked and peeled off the second I moved my shoulder at our local con. Anyone else found a way to make foam pieces bend without ending up with a sticky disaster?
