Why does nobody talk about how long EVA foam takes to seal?

I spent 4 hours last night just applying plastidip to a single helmet piece for my Halo cosplay. The seams kept bubbling up and I had to redo them twice. Any tricks to speed this up without buying the expensive heat gun stuff?

Used to roll my eyes at people who said they'd rather just buy premade clothes but after fixing the same crooked seam three times last night @rowan_hayes I get it now.
