Was convinced cheap craft foam is the same as EVA foam until I tried making armor with it
I spent like $30 on a big pack of those thin craft foam sheets from a dollar store chain thinking I was being clever. Tried to make a Mandalorian shoulder piece and it just crumbled after two days of light wear and humidity. Lesson learned - spend the $15 on a proper roll of 4mm EVA foam from a cosplay shop instead of trying to save a few bucks.

Yeah that crumbling feeling is the worst, I learned the hard way too when my Vault 111 armor panel literally fell apart at a con.

Nah honestly I think people overreact about the crumbling thing. I've had the same foam armor piece for 5 years, just tossed it in a bin after every con and it's totally fine.
