Warning: skipped the $8 craft foam for dollar store yoga mats on my Mandalorian build and wasted 3 weekends
I had to pick between buying proper 5mm EVA foam at $8 a sheet or grabbing those thin $1 yoga mats from the dollar store 2 miles from my place in Akron, and I went with the cheap mats thinking I was being smart. The glue would not hold, the paint cracked when it bent, and I had to rip off both thigh plates after the mats peeled apart at the seams during a test fit. Has anyone found a cheap foam that actually holds up for armor pieces, or am I stuck paying full price?

Eight bucks a sheet is nothing when you're talking about 3 weekends of your life. The real waste was your time, not your money. Get the right foam and don't overthink it.
