Used a $3 hot glue trick on my foam armor and it survived a whole con without cracking
I have been building a Mandalorian chest piece out of EVA foam for about two months now, and my biggest problem was always the edges splitting after a few hours of wear. Last weekend I tried sealing the seams with plain hot glue and a cheap candle warmer to keep it pliable, then pressed the foam together while it was still warm. Total cost was $3 for a bag of glue sticks at the dollar store in Reno. I wore it for 9 hours at the local con on Saturday and not one seam came apart. Has anyone else tried heat sealing foam with hot glue instead of contact cement?
