That lady at Dragon Con 2019 who made a full Gundam out of foam pool noodles
I was stuck at a folding table in the Atlanta convention center trying to fix my PVC pipe staff when this woman in her 60s sat down next to me with a Gundam mech suit made entirely from foam pool noodles and hot glue. She said she spent $17 total and three weekends in her garage putting it together, and the joints actually moved because she used zip ties as hinges. Has anyone else found a weird everyday material that worked way better than expected for a build?

Are we really acting like a pool noodle Gundam is some kind of genius discovery? I mean, come on, people have been using foam for costumes forever. Pool noodles are just the same stuff you can buy at any craft store for less. It's not like she invented fire or something. I bet that thing fell apart after one con weekend anyway, zip ties can only hold so much when you're walking around bumping into people.

People have been using foam for costumes forever" is missing the point. Pool noodles are cheaper and easier to work with than craft foam for big builds. If it held up for a weekend con, that's a win in my book.
