Spent 6 hours on a cardboard Iron Man helmet and it collapsed at the con
I was at the Denver Anime Expo back in March, feeling pretty good about my budget build. Used cardboard, hot glue, and some red spray paint from the dollar store. Looked decent from across the room but then I bumped into a pillar near the food court and the whole right side caved in. Had to walk around holding it together with one hand for the rest of the afternoon. Has anyone else had a build just fall apart on them in public?

Oh man, that's brutal! I read a forum post once where this guy's foam Thor hammer broke in half right when he was posing for photos. He had to pretend it was supposed to be broken for the rest of the day. For your next build, try sandwiching the cardboard layers with some craft foam on the inside, it adds way more structure and won't cave in if you bump into stuff.

Cardboard just isn't meant for heavy props.
