Someone told me my foam armor looked like a puffy vest and I had to fix it

I spent like 3 months on a Mandalorian kit and a guy at a con said it looked like I was wearing a winter coat. That stung, but he was right so I switched from 2mm craft foam to 5mm EVA and now I actually heat shape it with a heat gun at 300 degrees. Anyone else get brutally honest feedback that totally changed your build game?

Funny how that works with everything not just building stuff. The people who tell you the hard truth are the ones who actually help you get better.
