Shoutout to the thrift store in Dayton that sold me a $7 trench coat for my Spike Spiegel build
Two weeks ago I hit three Goodwills in Dayton looking for anything close to Spike's coat and came up empty, then a tiny church thrift shop two blocks away had a long navy trench for $7. I spent another $6 on a can of spray paint and a pack of yellow bias tape and had the collar done in one evening. The sleeves were about two inches too short so I just cut them off and stitched the cuffs back on, which honestly looks more like the anime anyway. Total cost for the whole thing with the belt was $19 and change. I wore it to a local meetup on Saturday and three people asked where I bought it, which felt pretty good. What's the best thing you've ever pulled out of a thrift rack for a build?
