Shoutout to the hot glue gun that saved my Gandalf costume

I spent 3 hours trying to shape EVA foam into a proper wizard staff for a con next month. The foam kept cracking and bending wrong no matter what I did. Finally I gave up and just started layering hot glue directly onto a PVC pipe from Home Depot. After 45 minutes of dripping and shaping I had a gnarly textured staff that looked 100 times better than the foam. The paint stuck to the glue way easier than I expected. Has anyone else ditched their planned materials halfway through and ended up with something cooler?

My buddy Mike hot glued a whole Mario hat together when the fabric kept slipping.

You ever have one of those projects where you just say "screw it" and reach for the hot glue gun? @kaimiller I once tried to fix a ripped tent with that stuff and ended up with a sleeve fused to the zipper. Mike's hat probably looks better than my mess honestly.
