Serious question, did anyone else get burned by the thrift store hot glue trick?
A cosplayer at my local con told me to use thrift store hot glue sticks because they are cheaper and work just as well, so I grabbed a bag for $2. After 3 hours of gluing Eva foam, the whole costume fell apart on the bus because the glue just snapped in the cold. Has anyone else had a thrift store glue failure or did I just get a bad batch?

Yeah, it's like how cheaper car parts always fail right when you need them most.

OH MAN yeah that thrift store glue thing is a total scam. I learned that the hard way when I tried to patch up a cosplay shield with some dollar store sticks. It held together fine in my room but the second I stepped outside to a con it literally shattered into pieces like glass. Hot glue has different melting points and that cheap stuff just can't handle temperature changes at all. Definitely not worth saving a couple bucks when your whole costume gets wrecked.
