Saw something wild at the Goodwill on Maple Street
I was looking for fabric scraps and found a whole rack of those cheap foam floor mats, the kind for kids. They were marked $5 for a pack of four. Someone had clearly bought them for a cosplay build, cut them up for armor, and then just donated the leftovers. It's a great find if you need light armor pieces, but check the edges because a lot of them were cut really rough. Has anyone else found good base materials in the weirdest store sections?

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I saw a bag of old plastic cutting boards at a garage sale. My brain just went straight to bracers.

My buddy found a whole roll of that thick vinyl flooring underlay at a Habitat Restore last month. Said it was perfect for making sword blades... way cheaper than buying sheets of worbla.

That 'way cheaper than buying sheets of worbla' part has me curious - was it the same thickness throughout, or did it have that peel-and-stick backing some underlayment rolls have? @lisa_carter31 might want to know too since she mentioned cutting boards for bracers.
