Pro tip: someone on here told me to stop using hot glue on foam, and my $30 Mandalorian helmet finally stopped falling apart

I built the helmet out of EVA foam floor mats from Harbor Freight and hot glued all the seams. It looked fine until the first con in August, when the glue let go and the whole jaw piece slid off in the parking lot. A guy at the repair table asked what I used, then said "hot glue melts in a hot car, use contact cement." I switched to a $9 can of DAP Weldwood, clamped the seams for 20 minutes, and it held through two more cons. Now I'm staring at the rest of my glue gun and feeling a little betrayed. Anyone else get saved by one random comment at a con?
