My $30 foam armor disaster from a craft store kit
I bought a 'cosplay armor starter kit' from a big craft store for about thirty bucks, thinking it would save me time. The foam sheets were way too thin and brittle, and the included glue dissolved the material when I tried to seal a seam. I basically threw the whole thing out after two hours of fighting with it. Has anyone found a good, truly cheap source for decent EVA foam sheets?

Yeah, that's the classic 'paying for the picture on the box' special. You get foam that crumbles like stale bread and glue that acts more like acid. I had a helmet piece just melt into a sad puddle once. @jamieh76 has the right idea, those interlocking floor mats are the secret. They're thick, they bend, and they don't turn to goo if you look at them wrong. The craft store stuff is for making a single sad Christmas ornament, not actual armor you can move in.

Honestly those craft store kits are such a trap. Tbh it feels like everything is cheap junk now, even the stuff that should be simple. I just get my foam from the hardware store floor mats, way cheaper and actually works.
