TIL that reading the bad reviews first on a broker actually saved me from a $2,300 mistake
So I've been hunting for a new broker for about 3 weeks now and I got tired of scrolling past the 5 star stuff (which is mostly bots anyway, let's be real). Last Friday I flipped my whole approach and only read the 1 and 2 star reviews first, and it was like a totally different company showed up. One broker I was about to fund with 2 grand had like 40 negative reviews from people saying their withdrawals were stuck for weeks, but all of those were buried under 600 fake looking 5 star posts. I spent maybe 2 hours reading through the bad ones across 5 different brokers and I noticed the same complaint popping up over and over: slow payouts and hidden fees on the way out. Ended up going with a smaller broker that had fewer total reviews but way more consistent stuff, even the 3 stars said the same things. What I learned is that the ratio of bad reviews matters way more than the star average, because you can buy a 4.8 but you can't fake 40 people all saying the same specific thing about withdrawals. Has anyone else tried sorting by lowest first before picking a broker, and did it change who you went with?
