Thermostat failed in 3 buildings last week and my tenants are losing it

Had to replace 12 units at my complex in Arlington after a power surge cooked the control boards, anyone else dealt with a sudden mass failure like that?

Are you sure you need to replace all 12? I had a surge take out 4 units a couple years back, but 2 of them just needed a blown fuse on the control board, not the whole board itself. Cost me like 8 bucks and 20 minutes of my time. Might be worth having someone check the simpler stuff before you shell out for full replacements. Landlords tend to jump to the most expensive fix first when a cheaper one is sitting right there.

Man, that sounds like a nightmare. A buddy of mine had a similar thing happen at his rental complex when a transformer blew nearby. Took out like eight units and he had to scramble to get HVAC guys out there on a weekend.
