Spotted a weird fee on my statement from a broker in Phoenix

I was checking my account with a broker I've used for a few months and saw a new $29.50 'account review' charge from last week. I called their support line and the guy said it was a standard quarterly fee, but it's the first time I've seen it. Has anyone else had a random fee pop up with their broker and how did you get it removed?

Standard quarterly fee" sounds like something they should've told you about.

Oh wow, really? They just throw that "standard quarterly fee" in the fine print and expect people to know about it?! That is crazy. No normal person reads every single line of tiny text when they sign up for something. It feels sneaky to hide a recurring charge like that in the details. I bet a lot of people miss it and get surprised later.
