Check your own bank's hold policy first.

That's such a solid point from @ninaw88. It feels like half the problems people have with companies, from banks to internet providers, come from not reading the fine print first. I waited three days for a check to clear last month because I just assumed my bank was like my old one. Now I actually look up the policy before I deposit anything over a few hundred bucks. Saves so much stress.
