Interactive Brokers vs Tradestation which one is actually better for a regular guy?

I've been using Tradestation for about 6 months now and honestly their platform feels like a spaceship control panel. My buddy Steve switched to Interactive Brokers 3 months ago and he keeps telling me their fees are way lower and the mobile app is cleaner. I'm paying $15 a trade with Tradestation which adds up fast when I'm moving in and out of positions. For someone who trades maybe 10 times a month has anyone tested both side by side and can tell me which one wins?

Bigger pattern I've noticed: cheaper tools usually work better for normal people.
